The rider is 42 now. When I was 39, I took a one-year career break from my work
as a Chief Inspector in Merseyside Police to fulfil a lifetime’s ambition of
cycling round the world. I had caught the cycle touring bug many years before
that, but the world trip cemented my love of being on the bicycle on a new road
everyday.
It may be a few more years before I can embark on a major trip again, but in the
meantime, I am using my holiday time to explore a few routes, which are off the
beaten track as far as cycle touring goes. |
